Happy birthday wishes go out to T.J. (Tommy Jo) Waycaster and Myrle Gibson, (mother of Fern Dunnavant of Dillwyn) of Covington, both celebrating on Monday, January 5, and Rev. Clyde E. Senger, of Crewe, pastor of the Keysville Baptist Temple, celebrating on Tuesday, January 6.
Dinner guests in the home of Larry and Barbara Barone of Cumberland on Saturday, December 27, were Toney and Jan Crawley and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crawley, all of Farmville. A nice time was had by all.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.
Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, and Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, all enjoyed an afternoon and evening of shopping and lunch in Lynchburg on Tuesday, December 23.
A large crowd attended the Annual Christmas lunch at the home of James and Virginia Boyles in Cumberland on Sunday, December 28. Everyone enjoyed a great afternoon of food, fun and fellowship.
According to the AAA Mid-Atlantic News Release, today’s national average price of gasoline is at the lowest level in five years and holiday a travel is expected to increase 3.5 percent from last year.

Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will host their budget and agenda meeting on Thursday, January 8, at noon at Teresa’s Place at Sprouses Corner Dillwyn. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. of Buckingham a local non-profit that extends help to and in the communities to individuals and families in their hour of need. All are invited to come and learn how to help by attending their regular monthly meeting January 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of Buckingham County Public Library. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. will host a free supper for the public on Tuesday evening, January 13 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, located just off of U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd). Everyone is cordially invited to attend and enjoy good fellowship along with homemade soups, Chili and crackers, grilled cheese sandwiches, desserts and a drink.
Buckingham Baptist Church, located on North James Madison Highway in Arvonia, will serve supper every Wednesday evening beginning January 14 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The cost is $4 per person, up to three people and a family with four or more will be $15 per family to cover food cost.
Following this, there will be Bible study at 6:30 and children in action Bible class for ages five to 11.
