Heavy rainfall predicted

 The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield is calling for rainfall that is expected to begin Friday afternoon into Saturday afternoon, with between 1-2 inches of rain projected.
Thursday night, the NWS in Blacksburg, which covers Buckingham County, called for “patches of black ice … possible as melted snow refreezes.”
NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region, which cites that “locally heavy rainfall is possible Friday afternoon through early Saturday, leading to increased potential for urban and river flooding into the upcoming weekend.”

According to the NWS, rain is expected to begin after 1 p.m. Friday. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible, according to the NWS.

Friday night, new precipitation between three quarters and one inch is possible. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

On Saturday, showers are likely before 1 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible, according to the NWS.
