Buckingham County High School’s varsity girls basketball team started its 2018-19 season Tuesday night with a 41-31 home victory over Amelia County High School. Greatly aiding the Lady Knights in this win was senior guard Shamari Wingfield, who led her team with 15 points. Senior guard Jayda Chamber, pictured at left from a game last season, led Buckingham with 12 rebounds and tied for the team-high in steals, with four, and assists, with three. She also had six points. The Lady Knights (1-0) are set to visit Central Lunenburg High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
