The Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Group will be hosting a luncheon for hunters and the community Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the former Cumberland County Elementary School (Luther P. Jackson building) located at 1874 Anderson Highway. The menu to include choice of chili, soup or beans along with crackers, chips and beverage. All proceeds resulting from this event will be used to help in our efforts in fighting “no dump.”
Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. In respect of the Cumberland Christmas parade the next meeting will be held Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 south and Davenport Road. During this meeting we will be honoring and remembering the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.
The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Court Room.
Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Lynn Cloud of Cumberland on Monday and Nancy Midkiff of Cumberland on Thursday Dec. 13.
The local Christmas Parades are as follows: Crewe, Thursday, at 7 p.m.; Keysville, Friday, at 7 p.m., Powhatan, Saturday at 2 p.m., Cumberland, Sunday at 2 p.m. and then on Sunday, Dec. 16, will be Dillwyn Christmas parade at 3 p.m.
Buckingham Baptist Church located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn at 24234 North James Madison Hwy., will be hosting a “Birthday Party For Jesus” on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. with refreshments to be served in the church fellowship hall. This celebration is sponsored by Children in Action.
Cedar Baptist Church located on U.S Route 15 North of Dillwyn at 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn will be hosting their annual Christmas program on Sunday, at 6 p.m. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Tommy Armstrong and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.
