Parade spreads holiday cheer

Nearly 100 organizations joined in the fun and brightened a cloudy day in downtown Farmville on Sunday during the Farmville Jaycees Christmas Parade.

The parade, in its 68th year, featured floats, motorcycles, firetrucks and tractors among other activities. Prince Edward County Public Schools, Cumberland County Public Schools, Hopewell High School Marching Blue Devils and Carrington Dance School provided energetic music and dance.

Kyla Silver was the MC for the event. Judges included Joan Simpson, Perry Carrington, Brian Vincent, Joy Stump, and actor and hip-hop artist Robin Allen, better known as the Lady of Rage.
