Two school choirs directed by Longwood University alumni and two Longwood choral groups will present a free concert Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Jarman Auditorium.
The Matoaca Middle School Choir from Chesterfield County and Tabb High School Girls Ensemble from Yorktown will perform. Longwood’s Chamber Singers and Camerata Singers also will appear.
The Matoaca choir is directed by Arianne Barrus, a 2008 Longwood graduate who is a Prince Edward County native. Her father, Dr. Roger Barrus, is a Hampden-Sydney College faculty member.
The Tabb ensemble is directed by Gordon Parr, a 1985 Longwood alumnus who sang with the Camerata Singers as a student. The ensemble is among the choirs invited to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Conference in Norfolk later this month.
