DECEMBER 1

COMMUNITY PRAYER BREAKFAST, 8 a.m. at Jericho Baptist Church in Farmville. Enjoy an old fashioned country style breakfast followed by the preached word by Minister Eurika Tyree, associate minister at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome.

HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR, 8 a.m-2 p.m. at Cartersville Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1667 Cartersville Road. Gift items, arts and crafts and visit with Santa.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR, 9 a.m-1 p.m. at MacCallum More Museum and Gardens, Chase City. Crafts, food and more.

PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church. The Rev. Dorothy Reid will be the speaker. All are welcome.

HOLIDAY SALE, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts. During the event there will be an ugly holiday sweater contest and a Design in Craft raffle with various prizes.

PORTRAIT PAINTING IN OIL WORKSHOP, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. sponsored by Central Virginia Arts, upstairs above Mainly Clay, 217 N. Main St., Farmville. The workshop is open to the public. Those interested should contact Deborah McClintock at (434) 223-8322.

BEGINNING OF ADVENT, 11 a.m. with a modified Hanging of the Greens service at Oakwood UMC, 1291 Columbia Road. All are welcome.

GUEST MINISTER, 11 a.m. at The First Rock Baptist Church of Prospect will be the Rev. Cavell Phillips, gospel radio personality of 106.5 in Richmond.

FARMVILLE JAYCEES CHRISTMAS PARADE, 2 p.m. The 68th annual Jaycees Christmas parade in downtown Farmville, Main Street.

COMMONWEALTH CHORALE, 3 p.m. will present Johan Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at College Church, 418 College Road, Hampden-Sydney. Free of charge.

NATIVITY IN ART, 3 p.m. at Hampden Sydney’s Atkinson Museum, sponsored by Central Virginia Arts by Barbara Rothermel from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The lecture is free and open to the public.

CANDLELIGHT SERVICE, 5 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Appomattox. Special guests will be the Rev. Rodney Sandidge and congregation of the Saint John Baptist Church in Norwood. The public is welcome.

DECEMBER 3

CHRISTMAS POTLUCK DINNER, 6:30 p.m. at the Curdsville Community Center. The choir from the Dillwyn Baptist church will be singing. Please bring a side dish or dessert. Also, we will be collecting small gifts for the nursing home in Dillwyn. Suggestions are unwrapped items such as socks, books or magazines in large print and hand cream. The Community Center is located at 122 School Road, just east of U.S. Route 15. Everyone is welcome.
