Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The next meeting will be held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road. During this meeting we will be honoring and remembering the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

A large crowd attended the annual Thanking luncheon at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed a nice time.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Court Room.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will be hosting their Annual Christmas Banquet on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall located on Route 60 at 14405 West James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham. All members and their guest are welcome and asked to bring a covered dish with the meats and drinks furnished by the association. Browns Chapel United Methodist Church located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617, Gravel Hill Road, will be hosting their annual Christmas program “Christmas at Bethlehem Gulch” on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. followed by refreshments in the Church fellowship hall. Pastor Rebecca Cook and the entire congregation welcomes everyone to attend.

Cedar Baptist Church located on U.S Route 15 North of Dillwyn at 3932 Bell Road Dillwyn, will be hosting their annual Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Tommy Armstrong and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.

Happy Anniversary wishes go out this week to James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland and J.R. and Margy Smith of Farmville, on Tuesday Nov. 27.
