Rene Marion and her daughter, Cheyenne Marion, and Linda Miles, all of Cumberland, along with Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, all enjoyed an afternoon meal at a Cumberland restaurant on Wednesday, October 1.

Welcome home to The Singing Policeman, Danny Figgins, of Front Royal, who has retruned from a ten-day mission trip to Romania. Barry Miles spoke to him by phone concerning his trip, he noted that they saw over 500 souls come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior and that it was a blessing to have the opportunity to go and share the gospel in song and testimony.

A birthday luncheon was held in Midlothian in honor of Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland, who celebrated her birthday on Sunday, October 5. A large crowd attended and enjoyed great fellowship and food.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn. All members are asked to attend and bring a covered dish for lunch. The October program will include the Annual Jam Session. Cecelia Branch, of Heritage Hall Nursing Home of Dillwyn, will celebrate her 80^th birthday on Friday, October 10. A surprise celebration luncheon was held in her honor on Saturday, October 4 at Buckingham Baptist Church in New Canton. The fellowship filled with family, friends, and neighbors and loved ones. The day included great food, fun and fellowship and special music from Worm Patterson and All Problems Solved. This event was given by her daughter Susie Taylor and Cecelia’s granddaughter Lisa Miller, both of Dillwyn, and the Branch family. Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, were in attendance Cecelia expressed her thanks to all for everything and noted that this was the greatest birthday celebration she ever had.

Elaine Myers of Dillwyn visited in the home of Annie May Miles on Monday, October 6.

Buckingham Baptist Church, located on North James Madison Highway in Arvonia, will be hosting a “Creation Day Festival” on Saturday, October 18 from 4-7 p.m. The afternoon and evening includes a dunk tank, horse rides by the Tom Mix Rangers of Virginia, games, crafts, photo booth, cake walk and much more. There will be food such as hot dogs, chips, popcorn, cotton candy, desserts and drinks.

The movie “God’s Not Dead” will be shown at 5 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Everything is free and open to the public. Pastor Doug Adams and congregation cordially invite all to attend.

Theresa’s Place in Sprouses Corner, Dillwyn, will host the last of five Cruise-Ins this year. This month will be Mopar Spotlight Cruise – from 5-8:30 p.m. All makes and models are welcome. Jones Chapel Baptist Church, located on Trents Mill Road in Cumberland, will be hosting a family fun festival on Saturday, October 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will include games, pony and train rides, inflatable’s vendors, door prizes, free food and more.
