Rosa Nell Blanton of Cumberland County celebrated her 104th birthday Sept. 29. She celebrated her day with approximate 60 family and friends at the County Seat Restaurant in Powhatan.

Born Sept. 29, 1914, she is the 11th child of the late Phillip and Suzanna (Patterson) Gary and the wife of the late Abraham Lincoln Blanton.

She is a mother of nine, grandmother of 18, great-grandmother of 32, and great-great-grandmother of 15.

She is thankful for her long life and sharp mind and she gives God all the credit for her long life of blessings.
