The lifeblood of Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) and Longwood University is students, and naturally, both institutions prefer to welcome them in fairly large numbers. Both schools are getting what they prefer.

Longwood has demonstrated in a variety of ways that it is thriving, adding and improving offerings for incoming students. The campus continues to expand and renovations are also underway to upgrade some of the university’s dormitories.

The school also received a strong influx of new students a few weeks ago.

“We have a healthy freshman class, right in line with our goal for the 2018-19 academic year,” Longwood Assistant Vice President for Communications Matt McWilliams said.

Life is also good for H-SC. The college has announced several large financial gifts it has received within the past 12 months that have significantly benefited the school and will help it to better serve its students. And H-SC has no shortage of students.

“You are SOME class,” H-SC Dean of Admissions Anita H. Garland said to the college’s newest freshmen and transfer students on Aug. 23, as cited in a press release.

The release noted that Hampden-Sydney’s Class of 2022 is one of the largest entering classes in the college’s history, totaling 342 young men from 20 states. Officials stated the group has members holding citizenship in the countries of Belize, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Mexico and the U.S.
