Charles Langston Breckinridge

Charles Langston Breckinridge, 90 of Farmville, VA, passed away on September 3, 2018. He was born on January 30, 1928, to the late Alfred P. and Clyde J. Breckinridge.
With his parent’s permission, he left high school to serve in the US Army at the end of WWII. After returning from Japan, he finished high school with honors and completed studies in electronics. He worked as an electronics technician for NASA and lived in Newport News, VA, before he and his wife Helen Kelsey retired to Farmville, VA.
In both communities, he was an active member at church: Hilton Presbyterian in Newport News and later College Church at Hampden Sydney. He was kind, generous to a fault, always willing to lend a hand and a great role model. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Thomas and his bother Jackson. He is survived by his daughter Beth Rivenbark (Mike) of Newport News, VA, a daughter in law Amy Breckinridge (Bruce) of Farmville, VA, a son, Thad Breckinridge of Farmville, VA, a sister June Bolick of Virginia Beach, VA, 10 grandchildren; Jack (Elizabeth), Katie (Chris), Andrew (Sara), Sarah (Steve), Kirsten (Joshua), Thomas, Matt, Audrey, Rebakah (Taylor), TJ (Tiffany), and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, at 1 p.m. in College Church, Hampden Sydney, VA. The family will receive friends at a reception at the church following the service.
