Bright faces rise for first day

Students at Sunrise Learning Center, an early childhood education center that meets at the Parrish at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church on 400 High St., embarked on their first day of school Monday. The school, founded by Dr. Deborah Carrington and Dr. Chapman Hood Frazier, uses a holistic method of early childhood education that encourages social interaction among students, learning and interacting with their environment using all of their senses, and ample outdoor time. Students in the combined first and second grade class at Sunrise Learning Center play in the great outdoors during their first day of school Monday.
