The Buckingham 4-H Extension Office is kicking off fall with fun programming. Enjoy a 4-H baking day and flower arranging workshop rolled into one. Prepare baked goods for the Five County Fair and have plenty to take home and enjoy with your family. This event is for youth ages eight and up and will be held at the BARN facility just outside of the Buckingham Courthouse Village. It takes place Sunday, Sept. 23, from 2–7 p.m. A light dinner will be served. While baking (waiting for things to rise, etc.) join experts from the Buckingham-Dillwyn Garden Club as they guide youth in the art of flower arranging. The September meeting of the Curdsville Community Center will be held Monday, at 6:30 p.m. The Center is located at 122 School Road, Curdsville. Bring your favorite covered dish to share. The program will be a sing-a-long. Enjoy the evening with members and friends and bring a guest.

The Buckingham Library will be closed Monday, in recognition of the Labor Day holiday. The library hours are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and closed Sunday. The library is currently located at 1140 Main St., in Dillwyn.

The Buckingham Dillwyn Garden Club will resume its monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at Tirtha Spa and Salon when owner Radha Metro will speak on “garden-to-skin” using the alchemy of plants to achieve blends that lead to beautiful glowing skin. Come and enjoy an exciting application of plants.

Attention teachers: Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program is offering more than $30,000 to help educators and related groups integrate agriculture into classroom curricula. In the past, more than 100 grants have helped connect more than 35,000 children to agriculture. The grants are designed to help educators implement agricultural projects in their classrooms. The AITC Garden Grant helps fund the cost of school gardens or greenhouses. The AITC Agriculture Experience Grant program funds projects that provide students with farm-themed field trips, farm field days and embryology units. Forestry and Wildlife Management Tour will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Cumberland State Forest Office, 751 Oak Hill Road, Cumberland, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. with lunch provided.
