John R. Wingo Jr., 60, of Farmville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. John was born May 30, 1958. He was raised in Buckingham County and lived his adult life in Farmville, Virginia.

He is survived by his mother Katherine R. Wingo of Buckingham, Virginia, his wife and best friend, Tricia Hoag Wingo, his three children, daughters, Erica Jean of North Carolina and Megan Flexon (Luke) of Chesterfield, VA, and son, Cory Wingo of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Brooks and Remmy Flexon.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John could be found working as the General Manager for Green Front Furniture. He was just 45 days away from devoting 41 years to a company he truly believed in and loved.

Some of his hobbies included riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid Redskin’s fan. In John’s early years, he was a private pilot, and even enjoyed skydiving. He also served as a fireman for the Farmville Fire Department.

The Celebration of John’s life took place at the Coleman Cemetery at 352 Coleman Road, Dillwyn, on Sunday, August 19. Family received friends at noon with service at 1 p.m. At his request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Rescue Squad of choice.
