A medical center specifically for children under the age of 18 is expected to open mid-September at the Centra Medical Group (CMG) building, located at 935 S. Main St., officials from Centra announced. CMG Pediatrics is set to open Sept. 17.

The hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Centra Southside Community Hospital spokesperson Kerry Mossler said the new pediatric center will “provide primary care to pediatric patients, as well as immunizations, allergy shots, school and sports physicals, and pediatric endocrinology.”

Mossler said the Centra pediatric center is new to Farmville.

Two doctors, including one who specializes in pediatric endocrinology, were announced as pediatricians for the new office.

According to a release from Centra, Drs. Grace Esare-Nkrumah and Luis Zamora Siliezar will be practicing at the center.

Esare-Nkrumah completed medical school at the University of Ghana Medical School and residency training at the Woodhull Medical Center Pediatrics in Brooklyn, New York, the release cited.

“She enjoys listening to music, singing and dancing, cooking and interior decoration. She has a son who attends the county schools,” the release cited.

Siliezar completed medical school at the University of El Salvador, and residency training at Pediatrics in Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow New York. He is a Fellow in Pediatric Endocrinology, a study that examines the endocrine system, the system responsible for secreting hormones necessary for the body’s development and function. In his spare time, the release cited that Siliezar enjoys making guitars.

In a statement from Centra Southside Community Hospital CEO Tom Angelo said the hospital is looking forward to having both pediatricians join the staff.

“We are excited to improve access for pediatric care in this region,” Angelo said. “We continue to strive in hiring the best doctors and ensuring quality high care close to home. We are also excited about bringing pediatric endocrinology services to this region.”
