Several block parties in the Farmville area Tuesday generated good food, fun and a sense of community. The parties were organized for National Night Out, an annual event hosted by the Town of Farmville that brings members of Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, Farmville Police Department, High Bridge Trail rangers and Farmville Fire Department together with children, the elderly and everyone in between. Farmville Police Chief Andy Q. Ellington said the various departments visited nine block parties during the evening located at Jericho Baptist Church in Farmville, Sunchase Apartments, The Woodland and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7059.
