Second Lieutenant Tristan Pietrzak, son of John and Pam Pietrzak of Virginia Beach, grandson of Carlton and Mary Elder of Farmville and John and Nevin Pietrzak of Virginia Beach, was an honor graduate of Basic Officer School, United States Marine Corps, held July 18 in Quantico. He received the “Colonel William B. Lemly Academic Award” for attaining the highest grade-point average in his class with a 99 percent. In addition, he received “The 1st Lieutenant Baldomero Lopez Honor Graduate Award” given to the honor graduate of the class. 2nd Lieutenant Pietrzak will be an Infantry Officer.
