A large crowd attended a Father’s Day cookout at the home of Tommy Jo (T.J.) and Stephanie Waycaster and children on Sunday afternoon, June 15. Everyone had a great time of fun, food and fellowship.
Cheryl Canipe, of Henrico, along with Barry and Linda and Annie May Miles enjoyed an evening of fellowship and food at a Midlothian restaurant on Thursday, June 19.
Spreading God’s Gifts, Inc. is a local non-profit home-grown faith-based ministry organization that assists individuals or families in need. Primarily in Buckingham and surrounding counties. Spreading God’s Gifts will hold a special event on Friday and Saturday morning, June 27 and 28, from 8 a.m. until at Granny’s Attic located on U.S. Route 15 South of Sprouses Corner near Curdsville.

Jammin’ on the James is sponsoring summer concert series at Dorrier Park in partnership with the Town of Scottsville, Scottsville Chamber of Commerce and Scottsville for the Center of Arts In Nature. The second of four concerts will be held on Friday, July 4 from 5-8 p.m. The day will begin with a parade downtown at 9 a.m. That evening, beginning at 5 p.m., the opening band will feature Powers and Brown of Scottsville and the main act, Red Light Rodeo. The day will end with fireworks at dark. All are invited to bring the entire family and enjoy a day of fun in Scottsville. There is no admission charge. Food vendors will be on hand. Arvon Baptist Church, located on North James Madison Hwy., in New Canton, will host a benefit supper and Gospel Sing on Saturday evening, June 28, from 6-8 p.m.
It aims to raise monies for those in surrounding area who are battling cancer. Supper will be served at 6 p.m. with hotdogs, hamburgers and more. At 7 p.m. Gospel Music will feature the Arvon Baptist Church Choir and Abby Jones of Buckingham. There is no admission charge but donations are appreciated.
