Cula Marie Dungee Berryman, 91

JUNE 17 — Cula Marie Dungee Berryman, 91, slipped into her eternal life on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born to the late James McKinley Dungee and Hettie Johns Dungee of Prince Edward County.

She attended White Rock Baptist Church of Lynchburg during her husband’s pastorage of 31 years. She served on numerous auxiliaries and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Berryman was also a member of the Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows of Lynchburg and vicinity.

She enjoyed doing community work.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Thaxton, Sharon Wright (Bernard) and Connie Berryman; sons, Everett Berryman (Doris) and Melvin Berryman (Cawannakie); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, the late Reverend Everett R. Berryman Sr., a son, Larry Berryman, granddaughter, Laurie Berryman and her stepmother, Sadie Lindsey Dungee.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at Sulphur Spring Baptist Church, Prospect, with Pastor Timothy Walker officiating and the Reverend Thomas Smith delivering the eulogy.

Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 4616 Oakdale Drive, Lynchburg.
