Mary-Emma Tapscott

Mary-Emma Tapscott, 94, of Scottsville, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Albemarle Health and Rehab Center in Charlottesville.

She was born on May 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Wilton Howell Tapscott and Cora (Baber) Tapscott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Ralph Tapscott; and a sister, Doris Tapscott.

Mary-Emma was a member of Goshen Baptist Church where she had served as Church Clerk for over 40 years and had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Scottsville Senior Center and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her brothers, James W. Tapscott and his wife, Norma, of Florida; Douglas H. Tapscott of Scottsville; Clarence Ray Tapscott and wife, Vernice of Charlottesville; and Lindsay E. Tapscott and his wife, Carolyn of Scottsville; and a number of nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, at Goshen Baptist Church in Scottsville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.
