NORTH CAROLINA, May 29 — James “Skinner” Johnson, 63, of North Carolina, formerly of Farmville, departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2014 in North Carolina.
Mr. Johnson was a sports enthusiast. He played basketball and baseball for Luther P. Jackson High School and graduated from Cumberland High School. He worked as a web pressman for a number of years at the Farmville Herald.
He is survived by his children, James Johnson and Tori Johnson-Walker (Quincy); five grandchildren, three brothers, Carlton Reid, Kenny Brown, and Earl Brown; three aunts, Omega Trent, Annie Collins, and Bessie May Wise; two uncles, Hayes Wiley and Leroy Wiley; one nephew and three nieces, along with a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, Farmville, with interment in the church cemetery with the Rev. Irma Watson, pastor, officiating.
Public viewing will be held Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home of Cumberland.
