Horseman camp underway

Concord Baptist Church is hosting Vacation Bible School from June 24-28. Come nightly from 6-8:30 p.m. to enjoy the theme of “Time Lab: Discovering Jesus from Eternity Past to Eternity Future.” Highlights of each night include crafts, Bible time, recreation and snack time. Bible school is geared for children ages kindergarten (age four) to sixth grade. Concord Baptist Church is located at 12053 Francisco Road at Sheppards. Everyone is welcome.
Looking for fresh, locally grown garden produce? Look no further than Sunnyside Farm. Grown in Cumberland County, fresh produce is brought to Dillwyn Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Look for their stand at the intersection of Route 15 North and Wingo Road. Enjoy potatoes, tomatoes, cukes, cantaloupes, squash, and other fresh fruits and vegetables.
Sprouse’s Corner Ranch, LLC is holding Horseman I Camp from June 18-22 and July 9-13. This camp is geared toward beginning and intermediate students, ages seven -16. The camp is held each day from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. English and Western riding lessons will be taught by a CHA certified instructor. Lessons are formatted in a progressive manner emphasizing communication skills, body alignments and balance. For more information, phone (434) 983-8181. The Commonwealth Games is an Olympic-style amateur sports festival for male and female athletes of all ages and abilities. The Commonwealth Games is produced by Virginia Amateur Sports, Inc., a nonprofit corporation located in Roanoke. The concept of the State Games movement is to provide an avenue for positive personal development through sports, to recognize dedication and achievement, to promote health, fitness and the camaraderie of competition. The 2018 Games will feature various sporting events. To be eligible, participants must be a resident of Virginia for 30 days prior to the first day of competition or a student enrolled in a Virginia academic institution or U.S. military personnel of family members stationed at a base in Virginia. Exceptions are persons residing in adjacent states who belong to a club based in Virginia, which regularly competes in Virginia. Events dates are May 26 through July 29 with opening ceremonies July 27 in Lynchburg. For more information or dates for events go to www.commonwealthgames.org.
Monthly Sprouse’s Corner flea market will take place Saturday from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Vendors, crafters, farmers, and junk collectors are all welcome to come sell products.
