A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Second and North Main streets Tuesday.
Farmville Police Department Deputy Police Chief and Captain William H. “Bill” Hogan said police received a call about the incident at 3:04 p.m.
“The pedestrian was crossing from the east side of Main Street to the west side of Main Street,” Hogan said.
“The vehicle was on Second Street headed east, and turned left onto North Main Street, striking the pedestrian in the crosswalk,” Hogan said.
Hogan said the pedestrian, a 61-year-old female from Farmville, was taken to Centra Southside Community Hospital by Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad.
He said he did not know the full nature of the pedestrian’s injuries.
Hogan said the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and assisted with the investigation. Willie Booker, of Cumberland, was charged with failure to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian.
