Todd Fortune, who serves as planner with the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC), was promoted to deputy director during the council’s meeting Wednesday.

The announcement about Fortune was presented after a discussion of the budget. Members of the council voted unanimously in favor of promoting Fortune to the position.

The deputy director position includes assisting the executive director in planning, coordinating and implementing CRC policies and budget activities, supervising current staff and training new staff, and providing comprehensive grant administration to area localities.

Fortune will assume the position July 1.

“I would just like to thank everybody for the confidence they’ve shown in me,” Fortune said during the meeting. “I will do the job to the best of my ability.”

Executive Director Melody Foster said she made the decision to appoint Fortune.

Fortune has worked with the CRC since October 2003.
