Redbud Garden Club held its 55th Annual Banquet at the home of Geraldine Sanderson April 24. The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the yearly awards.

In the Horticulture category third place with 134 points was awarded to Janet Higgins; second place with 171 points was awarded to Rebecca Giles and first place with 235 points was awarded to Nancy Schaeffer.

In the arrangement category third place with 67 points was awarded to Schaeffer, second place with 70 points was awarded to Ann Ligon, and first place with 81 points was awarded to Higgins.

Club members recorded 952 hours of volunteer service this year. Activities reported included serving as flower judges, acting as speakers for other clubs, taking part in various church related activities, serving with organizations such as Cumberland Community Christmas Mothers, FACES, local libraries, volunteer fire department functions, 4H, tutoring, blood drives and helping local state parks. Third place with 117 hours was Schaeffer, second place with 123 hours was Dottie Fahrner, and first place with 249 points was Geraldine Sanderson.
