Do you dream of warm, ripe, flavorful tomatoes fresh from the garden? If you plant an edible garden in Virginia chances are that it includes herbs, cucumbers and those wonderful, but sometimes frustrating tomatoes.

Liz Dunn, Heart of Virginia Master Gardener (HOVMG) Emeritus, will share her extensive knowledge of getting the most from your tomato plants. She can be heard at both the June Lunch & Learn and the Garden Tips & Topics Programs.

Is it an insect, virus or something else causing that tomato plant to wither and die? Liz has been a Master Gardener since 2001 and a longtime member of Red Bud Garden Club. Her tomato plants are highly prized at the HOVMG plant sale. She has been asked to speak on the topic frequently during the last 17 years.

Come to the Lunch & Learn program at noon Thursday, June 7, in the Prince Edward County Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, 100 Dominion Drive and learn the “secrets” to growing healthy tomatoes. Bring a lunch.

Liz will repeat the program at the Garden Tips & Topics Series in Buckingham Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. Garden Tips & Topics are presented monthly at the Buckingham Agricultural Building, 13380 W. James Anderson Hwy. (Route 60).

Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Both programs are free and open to the public and last about one hour. Lunch & Learn and Garden Tips & Topics are sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension and are presented by Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners.

Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and employment are open to all.
