Seniors recognized by NSDAR

The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter/NSDAR’s 2018 Good Citizens Award winner, chosen by Prince Edward High School, was Grace Alma Lettner Rust. Chosen by Fuqua School was William Andrew Horton, who was also recognized as the chapter’s Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Essay winner. Cumberland County High School chose Brandon Trayvon Swann who was unable to attend the presentation program.
The DAR Good Citizens program is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The program is open to all high school seniors who have the following qualities:
• Dependability (truthfulness, honesty, punctuality, etc.)
• Service (cooperation, helpfulness, responsibility, etc.)
• Leadership (personality, self-control, initiative, etc.)
• Patriotism (unselfish loyalty to American ideals)
These characteristics were recognized in each senior high school by the faculty and students at their individual high schools. The winners actively participated in numerous academic and non-academic extracurricular activities. The local DAR chapter recognized each winner with a certificate, pin and monetary award at its March meeting.
