Mother’s Day wishes and more

The Cumberland County board of supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Circuit Courtroom.
There will be a gospel sing, bake sale and concessions to benefit The Cumberland County Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday at 6 p.m. with doors to open at 5 p.m. in the Cumberland County Elementary School Cafetorium located at 60 School Road, Cumberland. S
outhern Gospel Music at its best will feature “Smokey Wilson” of Concord and “Mike Yoder and The Oak Hill Quartet” of Cumberland. No admission charge but a love offering will be received. Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people. Carol Swink, of Farmville, on Friday, Winnie Brown, of Dillwyn, Saturday, Charles Yates, of Dillwyn, on Monday and Patsy Miles, of Dillwyn, and Dean Catlett, of New Canton, both on Tuesday.
A speedy recovery is sent out to all those who are sick and shut-in. Buckingham Baptist Church Gold Hill will be sponsoring a youth fundraiser on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Advance Auto Parts, Dillwyn. There will be a bake sale, flowers for sale for Mother’s Day and a car wash for donations.
The 40th annual Hudgins family reunion will be held on Sunday May 20 at noon at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland located at 281 Agee Lane. All family members are urged to attend and bring your favorite dish.
