James Richard Shumaker, 71

NEW CANTON, April 8 — James Richard Shumaker, 71, of New Canton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ownby Shumaker; four sons, Andy Shumaker and his wife, Lisa, Lonny Shumaker and his wife, Jennifer, Shane Shumaker and his wife, Tracy, and Jason “Turkey” Shumaker, all of New Canton; sister, Virginia Erwin of Cumberland; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham County Rescue Squad.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, was in charge of arrangements.
