Tigers lacrosse team edges Lynchburg in final seconds

In Hampden-Sydney College’s (H-SC) home lacrosse game against conference rival Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon, Tigers junior midfielder John Burke took a pass from sophomore attackman Jack Hayden and scored a goal with 7.8 seconds left for a 14-13 victory. The win gave H-SC a new single-season school record for Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) wins at eight and a first-round bye in the upcoming ODAC tournament. Tigers senior attackman Ian Levin scored five goals and assisted on another. Burke finished with a hat trick to go with two assists. Senior midfielder Wilson Booth went 18-for-24 on face-offs with 12 ground balls. H-SC (13-4, 8-1) plays in the ODAC semifinals Friday in Lexington at Washington and Lee University.
