Helping power the Lady Eagles was Morris with three top-three finishes.

“She equaled her personal best in winning the high jump at 5 feet 4 inches,” Prince Edward Head Coach James Baker said. “She was second in the long jump with a personal record of 16 feet and (8 3/4) inches. She then placed third in the triple jump with another PR (personal record) of 34 feet and 7 (1/4) inches.”

Two other Prince Edward athletes placed second — sophomore Naomi Jones in the girls 400-meter dash with a time of one minute, 3.27 seconds and freshman Jayla Calhoun in the girls discus throw with a 99-foot 11-inch throw.

“Also placing sixth in the discus was junior Shania Swann with a throw of 88 feet and 6 inches,” Baker said. “Junior Nia Lee was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a PR time of 50.05 seconds. Jordan Booker, a junior, was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet 7 1/2 inches.”

Among the 18 boys teams to generate points, Prince Edward tied for 16th with two points.

The boys team Jefferson Forest High School won with 76 points.

Baker highlighted Eagles sophomore Amourre Watkins for placing fifth in the boys high jump, producing a 5-foot 10-inch leap.

Citing other Prince Edward standouts across both boys and girls teams, Baker said, “Josephine Hemmer, a freshman, was eighth (in the girls 1,600-meter run) after running a PR of 6:04.56. Chris Hicks, another sophomore, finished seventh in the 400 meters with a PR of 54.98. Freshman Jarvin Perkins was seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 38 feet (1/2 inch).”
