The Farmville Jaycees are back with a new look and spin on an old community favorite. The Farmville Jaycees are pleased to announce details for the launch of the 2018 Live at Riverside summer Concert Series (formerly First Fridays). This event will feature great bands, food and activities for all ages. The fun starts May 5 at 4 p.m. with a special collaborative concert with the Heart of Virginia Festival at Riverside Community Park in downtown Farmville. The remaining events will be on June 1, July 13, Aug. 3 and Sept. 7 beginning at 6 p.m. at Riverside Park in Downtown Farmville.
Regarding the new name and rebranding efforts for Live at Riverside, Farmville Jaycees President Warren Reid mentioned the following, “Seeing the need for a practical change from First Fridays, we have spent tremendous time and effort to not only change the name of our summer concert series to something that fits us, but bring some new ideas to the series. We are excited to rebrand Live at Riverside and bring those new ideas to fruition and great entertainment to Farmville and the surrounding areas.”
Meagan Martz co-chair of the Live at Riverside Committee along with Cameron Patterson have been leading efforts to secure bands and food vendors. In reference to the bands, food vendors, and other activities Megan Martz commented, “The Farmville Jaycees are thrilled about this year’s summer concert series. The community can expect to see many of their favorite acts, some of which haven’t played for us in several years. The planning committee is also working on a special event for October and we will be welcoming a new and exciting band to Live at Riverside. More details to come. Revamping our summer concert series also includes new food vendors and activities for all ages. We can’t wait for the community to take part in all of the exciting things the Jaycees have planned for this year.”
Money raised from the series is used to help support the Farmville Jaycees Mini Grant program.
