A vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 15 and Zion Hill Road resulted in no injuries.

Trooper B.J. Hylton with Virginia State Police said a 2009 silver Nissan Sentra was southbound on Route 15, making a left turn and crossing the intersection when a white 2016 Chevrolet van struck the vehicle. The Nissan careened into a nearby embankment.

Virginia State Police, Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office and Farmville Fire Department responded to the incident.

Hylton said the Sentra failed to yield to northbound traffic. He reported a truck on the left northbound lane, adjacent to the van, that prevented the van driver from seeing the Sentra until it was too late.

Hylton said the driver of the van was an employee of Piedmont Regional Jail, who was on duty at the time of the accident.

Neither the driver of the Chevrolet nor the driver of the Nissan were injured. The name of the Piedmont Regional Jail employee who was the driver was not released by Virginia State Police.
