Lady Knights gain experience

Buckingham County High School junior Alyssa Gormus, pictured above, competes against host Prince Edward County High School in a recent doubles match. Gormus is a leader on a relatively inexperienced Lady Knights squad this season, the team’s new head coach, Kyle Gravitt, said.

The team, composed of seven juniors, two seniors, a sophomore and a freshman, is 0-3 but is learning and developing on the court and has shown competitiveness already. While the Lady Knights fell 8-1 to both host Prince Edward on March 23 and visiting Nelson County High School on March 19, they opened the season with a narrow 5-4 road loss to William Campbell High School on March 15.

Buckingham returns to action Monday, April 9, when it visits Nelson County High School at 4:30 p.m.
