Neon-colored Easter eggs, toys and points of lights illuminated the sanctuary inside the Passion Community Church Farmville campus. Children picked up glowing Easter eggs and took turns tossing glow-in-the-dark hoops into targets as upbeat music played in the background. Families, friends, and especially the kids, enjoyed a fun and unique spin on the traditional Easter egg hunt Saturday held at Passion Community Church in Farmville.

The glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt brought numerous families, vehicles filling the parking lot of the church, located off of Fairgrounds Road, lining the sides of Fairgrounds Road and filling a parking lot nearby. Children and families could also enjoy a bouncy house, snacks like cotton candy and hot dogs, and spinning a wheel for prizes. For kids who may be afraid of the dark, there was an outdoor Easter egg hunt they could take part in.

Jenny Payne is Campus Pastor for the Farmville Passion Community Church, based in Powhatan with a main congregation and four satellite locations. Payne said the congregation looked to offer an engaging way to draw the community in and give them a fun and safe environment to enjoy Easter.

“We wanted to do something unique that we haven’t seen before,” Payne said, who noted the Farmville Passion Community Church was founded six months ago, “and do something to get the community to come out and be involved.”

Ashlynn Bryant, 9, and her family enjoyed the experience. “It was fun finding the eggs,” Bryant said. About the glow-in-the-dark aspect, she said, “It was cool.”
