Eagles varsity baseball team starts season 2-0

Prince Edward County High School’s varsity baseball team opened its 2018 season with a pair of James River District wins. The Eagles topped visiting Cumberland County High School 4-2 on March 16. Setting a winning tone in the season opener March 15, Prince Edward routed visiting Bluestone High School 10-0. Against the Barons, Corbett Bowman earned the win on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, threw three strikeouts and did not walk a batter. Brandon Orange threw a scoreless sixth inning, and the Eagles walked off on an Austin Mahan double in the bottom of the sixth inning. At the plate, eight Eagles scored, and Bowman, Mahan, Isaih Dailey and Aliq Walker each had an extra base hit. The Eagles visit Amelia County High School on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
