Toga's Top Firefighters Honored

In a rare move, two firefighters were named Toga Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year during the department’s recent awards banquet held at the firehouse. Pictured in the photo to the left is Toga Fire Chief Caleb Bryan (left), who received one of the awards, accepting the award from George Stish (right). In the photo to the right is Elliott Atkinson (left), accepting his Firefighter of the Year award from Assistant Fire Chief Phil Bryan. Stish called Chief Bryan, an adjunct instructor with the Virginia’s Department of Fire Programs, a firefighter in the truest sense of the term, while Atkinson, a 31-year-veteran with the department, was honored for his dedication. Both men responded to a vast majority of fire calls in 2013. See more photos of the event in the photo gallery at the bottom of our home page. (Photos by Jordan Miles)
