The American Civil War Museum’s History Happy Hour returns to Third Street Brewing in Farmville, Tuesday, March 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Author, lecturer, and documentary filmmaker Elvatrice Belsches will discuss Virginia-native Elizabeth Keckly.

Born into enslavement in Dinwiddie County, Elizabeth Keckly purchased her freedom and gained renown as a dress designer to both Varina Davis and Mary Lincoln. Discover how Keckly became a confidant to Mrs. Lincoln, and helped to establish an organization dedicated to easing the suffering of newly-freed people in contraband camps.

The talk is free; drinks are menu priced. Guests are welcome to bring their own food. Third Street Brewing is located at 312 W. 3rd Street, Farmville, VA 23901.
