January 16 — Happy Birthday wishes go out to Anita Ford, of Appomattox, celebrating on Friday, January 17; Cecil Ashburn and Junior Trent both of Cumberland, celebrating on Saturday, January 18; and Dottie Roosevelt, of Cumberland, and Roy Knighton, of New Canton, celebrating on Monday, January 20.

Our sympathy is extended to the Davis family of New Canton. John Marshall Davis, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8. A funeral service with military rites was held at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Arvonia. He will be greatly missed by all.

Dot Brown, of Richmond, spent a few days last week with her sister, Ann Carter, in Dillwyn.

Hello this week to our good friend Florence Lingo of Dillwyn.

Our sympathy is extended to the Allen family of Cumberland. Deborah (Debbie) Boyles Allen, 55, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, January 8. A funeral service was held January 12 in Dillwyn. She will be greatly missed by all.

Claire Landis, of Farmville, visited in the home of Ruby Cogdill in Cumberland on Tuesday, January 14.

Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, will be hosting their January Food Distribution on Saturday, January 25 from 9 a.m. till noon. Recipients must be a Buckingham County resident and will receiving one box per household. Boxes are served on a first-come first-served basis or until all food is gone. Individuals will no longer be able to pickup food boxes for anyone else. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, are entering their 26th year as a group. On Saturday, January 18, at 1 p.m. the group will host their kickoff meeting for members and perspective members at Cactus Jax in Arvonia. Everyone is welcome to attend.
