The Town of Dillwyn Christmas Parade, set to begin Saturday at 10 a.m., will celebrate community organizations and their services.
Dillwyn Mayor Linda Paige said the annual event will include representatives from the Buckingham County High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), the Dillwyn Fire Department and the area Girl and Boy Scout troops and “of course, Santa Claus,” Paige said.
Paige noted the event will conclude with Santa Claus visiting the Town Hall, where members of the public can attend and enjoy light refreshments.
Paige said that the parade marshal for this year is the Rev. Jimmy Dunn, who serves as Pastor Emeritus at First Baptist Church of Dillwyn.
She encouraged members of the community to take part in the parade and celebrate area organizations.
“We’re hoping that everybody will come out to view the parade,” Paige said. “It’s a traditional annual parade and we’re hoping that everyone will come out and join in with us for this holiday season.”
Dunn said he had lived in the area a long time ago and had since returned in the past few years. He said he remembers the parade and the joy it brought community members.
“It’ll be a fun time,” Dunn said about the Saturday parade.
