The Town of Farmville has the opportunity of possibly stepping into the limelight once again. According to a press release, Farmville is one among 20 towns in the running for season three of the Small Business Revolution — Main Street series.
According to a press release, on Sept. 28, Deluxe launched the second season of Small Business Revolution – Main Street, featuring the community of Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania and six businesses selected to receive the $500,000 makeover.
“The series, which airs on www.smallbusinessrevolution.org, Hulu and YouTube, features marketing and business expertise for small businesses in one small town,” officials said in the release.
According to Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Joy Stump, Audrey Sullivan, a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board, filled out an application over the summer.
“Then I was contacted and interviewed in September and then we learned we made the top 20,” Stump said.
She said the chamber will find out by Tuesday if Farmville is in the top 10.
“I think it is exciting to see the visibility Farmville is getting,” said Farmville Downtown Partnership President Sheri McGuire said.
She said she was interviewed with Stump by the Small Business Revolution staff after learning Farmville was in the top 20.
“We talked about the positive collaborations happening between our two higher ed institutions and the town and all of the great assets we have here to draw people to the area,” McGuire said. “It seems to me that the objective of Small Business Revolution is to come into communities and help figure out how to boost the success of the small businesses there through creative marketing ideas.”
She said in their conversations, they focused on their desire to be more of a destination community and attract more people to live and work in Farmville.
“We have a lot to work with here in Farmville, and are delighted to have the possibility of another boost for our businesses,” McGuire said.
Host Amanda Brinkman, Deluxe’s chief brand and communications officer, along with a host of marketing experts from Deluxe, help struggling business owners find their path to success.
Nominations were open from Sept. 28 to Nov. 19, with thousands of communities across the country vying for a chance to be featured in season three.
Eventually, five or six communities will be selected for a national vote to determine the winner.
