An event Saturday at High Bridge Trail State Park will explore the remnants of a large African-American cemetery located near High Bridge from 1-2 p.m. The event will begin at the Camp Paradise parking lot, a release on the event cites.
“Field rocks, ground depressions and a lone inscribed tombstone are all that is left of a large African-American cemetery near High Bridge,” the release cites.
The guided tour of the event will be conducted by Ranger Bob Flippen, who will explain who may be buried on the grounds and “how graves were oriented in years gone by.”
