Students who attend the McTeacher’s Night fundraiser at the McDonald’s on 14009 Buckingham Centre Drive may notice some familiar faces taking their orders or serving their meals.
Between 20-25 teachers and staff at Buckingham County Elementary School (BCES) will spend an evening at the golden arches Wednesday, Nov. 29, to raise funds for the school and to interact with students and their families.
“School volunteers work different jobs such as lobby greeters, working the cash registers, taking orders in the drive-thru and baking fresh cookies,” BCES Principal Bryan Jackson said.
Jackson said students received flyers to give to parents. The event is also advertised at the store.
Jackson said this is the third year the event has taken place.
“It is a wonderful way for our staff to meet with parents, students and stakeholders in a positive community environment,” Jackson said.
Angela Callaway, marketing director with Russell Enterprises, said McTeacher’s nights in Farmville, Appomattox and Madison Heights took place this year Nov. 14 and drew both crowds and support for each area’s schools.
Callaway said the store will offer a percentage of its sales during the event’s three-hour run Wednesday to the school, noting the percentage includes sales from the drive-thru window, carry-out and dine-in orders.
“McTeacher’s Night is a unique event that will increase school spirit and generate considerable excitement in the community while also raising money for the school,” Callaway said. “The special evening will give the school the opportunity to raise funds for programs, equipment or any other special projects.”
