The Farmville community will have ample opportunity to fall into autumn with a number of events coming up over the next few weeks.
According to Farmville Town spokesperson Kate Pickett Eggleston, on Friday from 5-7 p.m. New Life Church will host a Fall Fest at the Farmville Community Marketplace, located at 213 North St. in Farmville. The event will include face painting, games with prizes, rides, cotton candy and more.
Halloween will see two events in town, the first being the 2017 Halloween Costume Parade. According to Eggleston, lineup for the parade will start at 3:45 p.m. in front of the Prince Edward County Courthouse. She said the parade will take place from 4-5 p.m.
“It’s a time for families to bring their kids downtown to Trick-or-Treat at downtown businesses, and it’s presented by the Town of Farmville Recreation Department and the Downtown Merchants,” Eggleston said.
She said the parade has taken place for more than 20 years.
The second event will be Pumpkins on the Plaza, which will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the High Trail Plaza. She said the event will include pumpkins, crafts, games, music and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Sunchase will host a Fall Festival Nov. 11. According to Sunchase marketing manager Maggie Boyer, a DJ will be on site at Sunchase from noon-5 p.m. and there will be carnival games, a bounce house and vendors on-site.
