McAuliffe announces emergency grants

RICHMOND — Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced $2.7 million in new federal Local Emergency Management Performance Grants (LEMPG) to help localities plan and respond to emergencies in their areas.
According to a press release, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) will administer funds, which are from the fiscal year 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant program. Virginia receives these funds each year from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The release cited that Buckingham and Cumberland counties will each receive $7,500 in grants and Prince Edward County will receive $9,436.
