ALL NATIONS ANNUAL FAMILY AND FRIENDS WEEKEND, will kick off with “Churching in the Park” event at the Parkview Gardens Apartments at 3 p.m. There will be music, free food, testimonies, dancing and great preaching. Keynote speaker will be the Elder Justin Smith from Chicago, Illinois. On Sunday, the church will observe their annual and Family and Friends Day at 3 p.m. The keynote speaker will be the national Evangelist Suzie Wright from Petersburg. There will be singing, praise dancing, preaching and door prizes.

SIXTH ANNUAL LANTERN TOURS, 6:30 p.m. at Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park. Groups of 30 will be guided through the park to six stops where participants can step back in time and explore the village by lantern light. Tickets are $10 and should be reserved in advance. Participants can choose the time: 6:30, 6:50, 7:10, 7:30, 7:50 or 8:10 p.m. The presentations are appropriate for kids ages 6 and above.

LOVE NO EGO COMMUNITY DAY WALK, 9 a.m. at Dillwyn Pocket park. There will be brief speeches by local influencers and business owners, a snow cone machine, a step team performance, singing and light live music.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PIG ROAST, 5-8 p.m. at the Gee-Price activity center, Fuqua, 605 Fuqua Drive, in Farmville. There will be food, beverages and live music. Tickets are $50 per person available online at farmvillehabitat.org or the Restore, 1409 Main St., in Farmville.

AUTISM POKER RUN, 9:30 a.m. registration, 11 a.m., kick-stands up. First stop will be Jenkin’s Blue and Gray with last stop at The Fishin’ Pig. $25 per bike or car with $10 per rider. T-shirts, live music, raffle of prizes and lunch served around 2 p.m. Rain date, Oct. 14.

INAUGURAL THOR’S HAMMER FESTIVAL, 11 a.m. at The Barn, located at 11851 W. James Anderson Highway, in Buckingham. Cheer your firefighters as they compete to win. Register a team, enter the cookoff and get tickets. Chili cook-off categories include, best firehouse chili, best red chili, vegetarian, best no-beans, best theme/setup and best all around chili wins two tickets to see Zac Brown in concert Oct. 7. This is a benefit for the Volunteer Fire Departments that serve Buckingham County in loving memory of Thor Stish.

FOOD FESTIVAL/CAR SHOW, 10 a.m. sponsored by Midway Baptist Church Planning Committee at the Randolph District Fire Station located on Cumberland Road on Route 45. The Food Festival will consist of soul food dinners for sale. All proceeds will benefit the building fund.

RABIES VACCINATION CLINIC, 9-11 a.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension. Cost is $8 per vaccination and proceeds go to help support 4-H’s Camp Loud and Clear. The extension office is located across from Lowe’s.

REVIVAL SERVICES, 11 a.m. Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Abilene and continuing each night at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be, Evangelist Steve Freeman, founder of Steve Freeman Ministries and staff evangelist at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, located in Colonial Heights. There will be special music each night. A nursery will provided each night. All are invited to attend.

ANNUAL WOMEN & MEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at High Bridge Baptist Church. Women are asked to wear white. The Rev. Dr. Osa Dowdy, of Moseley, and the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Choir, of Kenbridge, are the morning guests for the women’s program. Lunch will be served following morning service. The Men’s Service will begin at 3 p.m. with the gospel delivered by the Rev. Marvin Oliver and the Pilgrim Baptist Church Male Chorus, from Jetersville, rendering the music. ANNUAL HARVEST MOON CHAMPAGNE AND CHOCOLATE GALA, 6-8 p.m. is a fundraising event to raise funds for Children’s Programming activities. Tickets are $25 each available at the Farmville and Dillwyn Libraries.

OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 26. Margo Bruce, associate minister of Evergreen Baptist Church in Palmyra. On Sunday, Oct. 15, the women’s ministry will celebrate their Annual Women’s Day during the 11 a.m. worship service. The guest preacher will be Elder Georgia Colbert of Windsor Mill, Maryland. This year’s theme is “P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens)” with the scripture reference Philippians 4:6.

45TH HISTORIC APPOMATTOX RAILROAD FESTIVAL, 9 a.m. The two-day event commemorates the Norfolk and Western Railroad donation of the Appomattox Depot to the Town of Appomattox in 1973. Festival events include parade, arts, crafts, food, classic car show, fireworks, teddy bear parade, amusements amd rides, model train display, RR Willie train ride, fine art show, good ole days area, exhibits and displays, small gauge stream engine locomotive train rides, 5K foot race and a street dance.

VIRGINIA CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. at Charley’s Waterfront Cafe in Farmville. 10 percent of the day’s profits benefit the Virginia Children’s Book Festival (VCBF). The VCBF is a free three day event that serves all of Virginia’s children. Those interested are invited to come by Charley’s to keep the VCBF free for all and to get more information about the festival. The VCBF, hosted by Longwood University, is open to the public.

4-H CSI MYSTERY CAMP. Campers ages 9-13 will get the chance to work with local law enforcement to solve several mysteries. Camp will be at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox. The early bird cost is $65 if registered by Oct. 6 and increases to $75 if registered after Oct. 6. The cost of camp includes lodging, meals, snacks and class materials. Those interested in the camp are asked to contact their local Extension Office by Oct. 6.
