BUCKINGHAM — A special use permit for a private school meant to teach students in Buckingham’s Amish community was approved by the county board of supervisors Monday.
The school is set to be located on Union Church Road in the James River Magisterial District.
Samuel Beiler was the applicant for the permit, according to county documents.
Only one person spoke during a public hearing for the school, asking that the board notify the applicant of anything surrounding the proposed location that could threaten its students.
The permit was approved with 13 conditions established by the Buckingham County Planning Commission, including the property beginning construction within two years of the permit being granted and the property following regulations from the county solid waste ordinance and other federal, state and local regulations.
