Coach’s game notes: The Knights have no intention of overlooking Central Lunenburg because of its record. They acknowledge that two of the Chargers’ losses came in close games, and though Central lost to Goochland High School by 20, it was competitive early on with the talented Bulldogs.

The Knights will look to contain running backs Dontae Crowder and T’zion Wilkerson. When on offense, the Knights will be wary of defensive lineman Garrett Williams.

Knights center Garrett Hafley and quarterbacks Gerry Toney and Tyrese Ayres may still be out due to injury.

AMELIA (2-1) AT CUMBERLAND (0-2)

Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.

Last season: Amelia 46, Cumberland 12

Coach’s game notes: The Dukes have spent some time getting in better shape this week after running out of gas against Prince Edward last Friday. The chance to play in front of their home crowd for the first time this year has also helped with their energy level.

Game film for Amelia has shown the Raiders to be a solid team both on offense and defense. Offensively, they are balanced between passing and running. Their quarterback throws the ball quickly and accurately. Wide receiver/cornerback Ziayahn Jackson is a notably good player that will need to be accounted for.

ATLANTIC SHORES (0-3) AT FUQUA (1-1)

Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.

Last season: Atlantic Shores 49, Fuqua 46

Coach’s game notes: The Falcons are preparing for a well-coached, speedy Seahawks team that lost a host of seniors from last year’s squad due to graduation. Fuqua has slightly greater size up front.

The Seahawks are expected to spread the ball around through the air, with Camden Walker distributing and Alex Walker being a key target. Christopher Williams will contribute both as a running back and as a safety, helping bring defensive pressure off the edges, challenging Fuqua’s offensive line.

Falcons linebacker/quarterback Billy French may be limited due to injury.

BLUESTONE (1-2) at PRINCE EDWARD (3-0)

Kickoff: Friday, 7 p.m.

Last season: Prince Edward 14, Bluestone 6

Coach’s game notes: In preparation for Bluestone, the Eagles have been trying to figure out how to stop the Barons’ passing game, working to get the fundamental coverages in place. The Barons throw the ball frequently, and they do it well.

Bluestone quarterback Dale Sturdifen Jr. threw for more than 300 yards against Randolph-Henry High School last week, and he has some strong targets to throw to — Chris Gregory can go and get the ball in the air, and Cedric Taylor is remarkably quick. Other key players include wide receiver Roger Dailey and tight end Cameron Tucker.
