Dr. Giuliana Allega, will join the Centra Medical Group-Centra Southside Medical Center, located in Farmville.

According to a press release, Allega graduated summa cum laude in biology genetics from McMaster University from Ontario, Canada.

She earned her doctorate of medicine from Saint George’s University School of Medicine with clinical rotations at Atlantic Health Hospital System in Morristown and Summit, New Jersey.

“Allega continued her training for residency at Overlook Family Practice and Overlook Medical Center, located in Summit, New Jersey; Chatham Family Practice in Chatham, New Jersey,” officials said in the release.

“She was the chief resident from 2010-13 at Atlantic Health Overlook Hospital Family Medicine in Summit, New Jersey.”

The release cited Allega worked for three years in private practice after her residency for the Center of Family Health, located in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.

“Allega was awarded the Anthony F. Coppola Clinical Excellence Award and the Residency Leadership Award in 2013,” officials said in the release. “During her residency she presented valuable findings on RSV bronchiolitis in the pediatric population, failure to thrive in the elderly, calcium and cardiovascular disease in women breastfeeding and newborn development-first month of life.”

According to the release, Allega is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. She holds a New Jersey Medical License, American Board of Family Medicine license and Virginia Medical license.

“Dr. Allega enjoys spending time attending little league games, swim meets, playing tennis and camp with her two young children,” officials said in the release. “Please join us in welcoming Dr. Allega and her family to the Farmville community.”
